Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig on 21 September 1983) is an American actress best known for her roles as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television show Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. After the divorce of her parents her parents separated, she moved to Worthington, Ohio to live at Los Angeles. She was struggling to get by and was offered her first role in acting in the film Rachel's Room's leading character. The actress was able to secure a Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 with her portrayal of the 15 year old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television movie Murder in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford's character she played in Lost between 2004 and 2005, was selected for an Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace wanted to focus on film following her role as Tom Welling's character, The Fog, in 2005. In addition, she appeared as Kim Mills in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) and also starred alongside Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in the year 2008. In 2008, she played the same role as Kim Mills in Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both 2012). Grace was back on the Lost series for the last two episodes playing Shannon. The actress was featured in 2013's seventh season Californication. The actress plays Faith an actress in a group and as an muse for the stars that catches the attention of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. A member of the Gyllenhaal clan, she is the daughter of film makers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and the older cousin of the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Her career began as a young teenager with small role in films made by her father. Also, she worked alongside her brother in 2001's cult film Donnie Darko. Later, she was in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal has received critical praise for her lead performances in Secretary (2002 the erotic romance drama) and Sherrybaby (606), both of which garnered her Golden Globe Award nods. The Dark Knight, which was released in 2008, following numerous highly successful films, including World Trade Center (2006) which brought her greater recognition, was a huge success for Gyllenhaal. In the film, her performance as Crazy Heart as a mother with a single child earned her nomination in an Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. In 2021, Gyllenhaal was able to make her writing and directing debut in the psychological drama The Lost Daughter for which she received the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated to win the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
